COURTESY POST. This horse is not at Spring Hill. Please contact owner, below. Jewel is a 23 year old Standardbred gelding, 15.2 hands. I purchased him off the track 15 years ago, and broke him to canter and gallop. He is trained to ride English and to jump, and is learning to neck rein. He is extremely responsive, loves to run, and an excellent cross country horse! I have ridden him in parades and he has two years (of an average of four) into training as a cavalry mount. He stands for shooting a rifle off his back, can do precision drills, and generally he tolerates the chaos of Civil War re enacting fairly well. I have never hitched a sulky to him, but I believe he would make for an excellent driving horse. Jewel is extremely intelligent and responds well to affection. He can also be very strong willed, thus I would recommend only experienced horse owners consider adopting him. This is an urgent issue, as I can no longer care for him and am relocating to Maine.
